GRACE WILL LEAD ME HOME

by Robin Givens

As the world watched, Robin Givens sat alongside Heavyweight Champion of the World Mike Tyson and told Barbara Walters and an international viewing audience of millions how life with the Champ had been “torture, pure hell, worse than anything I could possibly imagine.” Yet Givens never seemed scared, not even when Tyson stroked her neck. This was not a woman on the run; this was a person of strength and substance taking a stand.

Back when Robin—then a budding TV star and one of People Magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People—married the most powerful and feared Heavyweight Champion to ever step into the ring, she thought she had finally found security. What she actually found was her place in the long legacy of domestic violence that had plagued three generations of her family, as it does more than four million American women annually.

In her memoir GRACE WILL LEAD ME HOME (Miramax Books, June 5, 2007; hardcover edition, $23.95), Robin Givens chronicles this multi-generational story of abuse. She recalls in vivid detail Tyson’s first punch, delivered coldly and dispassionately, yet with enough force to fling her 105-pound frame across the room. Given recounts how Tyson sliced her clothing to ribbons and nearly choked her to death.

The memoir then comes full circle. After Robin and Tyson’s eventual (and tremendously painful) split, Robin began an intense journey of self-discovery, and came to sense the return of God to her life. With her spirit, health, and faith rekindled, she realized that she was ready to take on motherhood, the most challenging and fulfilling role she’d ever had.

GRACE WILL LEAD ME HOME is a moving story of the transcending power of love and redemption.

In an interview, Robin can discuss:

· Her marriage to Mike Tyson, the years of abuse, and the divorce that followed.

· Living through personal tragedies with the world watching.

· Domestic violence and generational domestic violence, after witnessing her mother’s struggle with an abusive relationship and her grandmother before that. Robin explains why so many fall into the cycle and how to break the cycle.

· The warning signs of abusive relationships and how to realize these problems exist before it’s too late.

· How faith helped her regain control of her life.

· How faith has taught Robin to love and forgive those who have hurt her as a path to recovery and happiness.

· Robin can speak about being a mother and raising her sons to respect women and themselves.
